I worked with a local Chico bar, Duffy’s Tavern, to create a set of menu designs that would be offered both seasonally and year-long. Each menu has a different theme and stylization per request of management.

Problem
Each menu, Critters, Classic Menu, and Icons in a Glass, should have its own theme and stylization while still feeling unique to Duffy’s Tavern.
- The Classic menu should incorporate the iconic image of Jesus playing baseball that has been hanging in the bar since 1989.
- The Critters menu design should blend hand-drawn illustrations with a modern and sleek look that would be enticing to a 21-30 year old crowd.
- The Icons in a Glass menu design should feel vintage and retro. Each menu item should have a unique design that pays homage to the person and the flavors of the drink.
Solution
To meet the needs of Duffy’s Tavern, I designed three distinct menus that each reflected a unique theme while staying true to the bar’s identity. The Classic Menu has a clear hierarchy of text with easily identifiable labels for patrons. The Critters menu blended hand-drawn illustrations with a sleek, modern layout to appeal to a younger crowd. The Icons in a Glass menu embraced a vintage, retro aesthetic. Each menu item was individually designed to pay tribute to the person it represented and to highlight the unique flavors of each drink.
